The senseless hatred of St. Junipero Serra
Under the pretext of anti-racist protests, vandals destroyed a statue of St. Junipero Serra (1713-1784) in San Francisco. Serra was a Franciscan who evangelized California and travelled hundreds of miles to baptize and evangelize native American Indians. He knew how "to meet many people, learning and valuing their particular customs and ways of life," as Pope Francis said when canonizing him a saint.
Terrorism and Covid, two recipes for public control
Terrorist attack in England: the media strive to quell any alarm. Coronavirus: the media stoke a permanent state of fear. This sort of panic by command which works to keep the population at the mercy of Power, can only be resisted by clinging to the One who has already defeated this worldly Power.
With financial industries up and economies down, savers will pay
Financial industries are soaring amid sinking economies. "Economic financialization", with rivers of fiat money flowing out of central banks and pumped into global markets, underscores the imbalance existing between financial and real market dynamics. We are quickly moving toward "financial socialism" which will end up destroying what little is left of our freedom and economic responsibilities. But can we stop it?
Archbishop Kocsis: “Faith is our real weapon against Covid”
Fülöp Kocsis, metropolitan archbishop of Hungary’s Greek Catholic Church, tells the New Daily Compass about how Hungarians have overcome the coronavirus pandemic thanks, in part, to good government intervention. Above all, he speaks about how Catholics have an edge: “Can the pandemic be considered as a gift?”, he asks. “Yes, with the eyes of faith it is. Moreover because it teaches us a lot.”
Is America unhappy? Covid and Trump are not guilty
Among the studies researching the psychological impact of Covid-19, there is the study presented by the University of Chicago. The American media has interpreted it in dramatic tones. However, the only way to find out whether one is happy or not is to draw a simply graphic revealing how much gap there is between our vocation (adherence to a project we are called by God to steward) and our current state of life. Let's take look at it and maybe we'll discover that neither the quarantine nor COVID-19 have anything to do with our happiness.
LGBT Leader was the communist spy who betrayed Wojtyla’s priest friend
She is often seen today at the side of Warsaw’s Mayor Rafał Trzaskowski, a candidate of the left running for president of Poland. Her association, Pro Humanum, which promotes LGBT ideology, has received almost two million złoty in support from the City of Warsaw. Her name is Jolanta Lange, but it was recently discovered that her true surname is Gontarczyk. She is a former communist spy who, together with her husband, betrayed the trust of Father Franciszek Blachnicki (†1987), who died in forced exile in very strange circumstances and who was persecuted throughout his life first by the Nazi and then by the Soviet totalitarianisms. Today an investigation seeks to shed light on his death and on the role played by Gontarczyk, who was the last one to see him alive.
Black memories: when the Democrats defended the interests of slave owners
Democratic Party’s most “ugly” memory is found in its 19th century pro-slavery, agrarian political agenda, not to mention its “Manifest Destiny” ambition which prompted the mass mistreatment of Native Americans. It was 19th century Republicans, not Democrats who ultimately defended black lives
Covid-19 has brought more migrants to the Mediterranean
The figures decreased in April, surely due to bad weather and the pandemic. However, in May numbers of illegal immigrants entering the EU from various Mediterranean routes tripled compared to the previous month. From January to May, 5,500 cases have been recorded, virtually triple the number for the same period in 2019. Frontex has reported this, but individual countries are not responding
Post Coronavirus: notes for living true freedom
Uproot statism and streamline bureaucracy, promote subsidiarity, free schools, fiscal freedom and the freedom to be born once conceived, national loan, combat the new humanism of the supra-national globalism that conducted an experiment of limited freedom and political authoritarianism during COVID-19: the future awaiting us will have to be the phase of true freedom, an extraordinary opportunity “to re-plan our journey, to set ourselves new rules and to discover new forms of commitment. . .” (Caritas in veritate, n. 21). Archbishop Crepaldi’s notes for rebirth according to the Social Doctrine of the Church.
Trump and Viganò: a dialogue that reads current events in a Biblical key
U.S. President Donald Trump sent a tweet showing his enthusiastic support for the open letter Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò wrote to him, that speaks of a fierce battle underway between the children of darkness and the children of light. It is a reading of current events that follows the same line as the prophecies of John Paul II and the judgments of Benedict XVI. Viganò notes that at this juncture President Trump is the only international authority capable of standing up to the global power which is intent on destroying freedom, which has taken advantage of the Covid crisis and which is stirring up revolts in the United States, with even harder times still in store.
The anti-racism of anti-Western racists
An iconoclastic anti-racist fury has erupted and not just across the whole of the United States. It is now global. In England, monuments of Churchill and Gandhi have been vandalised. In America, images of Christopher Columbus continue to draw angry sentiments while the Hollywood classic “Gone with the Wind” has been removed from HBO Max. In Italy, "morelli" (little blacks) dark chocolate sweets are disappearing from shelves while the Indro Montanelli statue faces removal. But why?
Jesus is Truly Present in the Eucharist, Just as 2000 Years Ago He Was On The Cross
On the Solemnity of the Body and Blood of the Lord we especially exalt what is celebrated in every Mass: the truth of the presence of His Body offered in sacrifice for us and of His Blood shed on the Cross for the forgiveness of our sins. Today, in many parts of the world, the obligation to attend Mass is dispensed, processions are prohibited, Communion is given in the hand, desacralizing the Eucharistic mystery. It is urgent, more than ever before, to return to adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament to make reparation for the outrages against this infinite gift of Love.
