Trusting more deeply

And Jesus said to his disciples: “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds, and to the one who knocks it will be opened. Or which one of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask him! “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. (Matthew 7: 7-12)

In prayer, the soul places God above all human desires, hope and love. After all, God is the only Being capable of giving meaning to human life. The soul is, therefore, restless until it finds Him and rests in Him. By praying and meditating on God's word and the lives of the saints, we become aware of our limitations and increase our trust in God's Providence.
