We are pleased to announce the launch of our Christmas fundraising campaign for the Daily Compass today. The theme we have chosen, ‘Store up treasures in heaven’, is the perfect follow-up to last year's theme, ‘Looking straight at God’.
We walk in the world and live in it, but our hearts are set on eternity. It is eternity that judges our present circumstances. This is why our actions and decisions are an opportunity to 'store up treasures in heaven'.
This was true of the people who built cathedrals in the Middle Ages, which is why we have chosen this image for our campaign. 'Without distinction of class, everyone rushed to contribute to the great undertaking with offerings of money and goods,' we read in the Annals of the Fabbrica del Duomo di Milano, for example (quoted in a book dedicated to the cathedral). They were certain that this work affirmed their faith and secured their place in eternity.
Financial support for the Daily Compass is also a way to 'accumulate treasures in heaven' because the online daily newspaper provides a constant reminder of the things above. It aids living in truth, judging the world from God's perspective and loving the Church, day by day.
This daily task involves eleven people, including editors and administrative staff, as well as around forty external collaborators, and is supported solely by donations from readers like you.
This small publishing miracle can only continue if our daily work is accompanied by your financial contribution. No matter the amount, every euro is important to us.
There are many battles to be fought (for life, family, sound doctrine, peace and security) with limited resources.
