Without a goal
He will go in search of the stray (Mt 18, 12)
Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Tell me. Suppose a man has a hundred sheep and one of them strays; will he not leave the ninety-nine on the hillside and go in search of the stray? I tell you solemnly, if he finds it, it gives him more joy than do the ninety-nine that did not stray at all. Similarly, it is never the will of your Father in heaven that one of these little ones should be lost.’(Matthew 18:12-14)
Unlike the shepherd who searches for the lost sheep without knowing where it is, Jesus knows very well where a lost soul is. Moreover, while the sheep does not know where to go, Jesus knows what his goal is ... because He himself is the goal, even if the lost soul doesn’t know. So, He places every kind of grace on his path so that the sheep may find Him again, perhaps like the prodigal son who came to understand the misery he had fallen into by going far from Jesus. But we cannot always wait for God to do everything, we too must do our part. How could you show Jesus today that you are seeking Him.
