Whom to trust

Do you believe that I am able to do this? (Matthew 9: 28)

Gospel Pearls 04_12_2020

As Jesus went on from there, two blind men followed him, calling out, “Have mercy on us, Son of David!” When he had gone indoors, the blind men came to him, and he asked them, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” “Yes, Lord,” they replied. Then he touched their eyes and said, “According to your faith let it be done to you”; and their sight was restored. Jesus warned them sternly, “See that no one knows about this.” But they went out and spread the news about him all over that region. (Matthew 9:27-31)

Blind people cannot identify dangers around them. In order to do so, they must carefully evaluate those they can trust. In the case of the two blind people mentioned in today's reading, they already demonstrate their faith by the way they ask Jesus to help them. They also firmly believe in the possibility of a miracle from Jesus. Following their example, we must not forget that all men must decide whom to trust. Let us make sure that every day our trust in Jesus grows ever more by way of acts of complete confidence in Divine Providence.
