Two formidable intercessors

From that time on, this disciple took her into his home. (John 19: 27)

Near the cross of Jesus stood his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene. When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, “Woman, here is your son,” and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home. (John 19: 25-27)

In His final moments of agony, Jesus has the strength to entrust His Mother to St. John and to give a new son to His Mother. Thanks to this entrustment, each one of us has become a son of the Most Holy Virgin Mary. Just as Jesus intercedes for us with the Father, so too does His Mother Mary intercede for us with her Son. Today, do we focus on the fact that our eternal salvation passes through Jesus and Mary? That is why we must not be distracted when we pray, otherwise we pray in vain.
