After conclave: cardinals who deserve refugee status return to troubled countries
South Sudan, Haiti and Myanmar are just a few of the countries where priests and lay people suffer daily violence and persecution caused by war, political hatred and religious intolerance. Having been present in Rome for the Conclave, these cardinals would be entitled to refugee status. However, they are choosing to return and stand alongside their congregations, accepting the risks that entails.
Mankind needs to hear about all four 'Last Things'.
As we saw at the funeral of Pope Francis, the Last Things have been reduced in preaching to two: death and paradise. While the Last Judgement and Hell have been forgotten. But in this way the truth about mankind is lost and true hope and mercy are denied. The recovery of the eschatological discourse should be a priority for the new Pope.
Respect the law to ensure justice and avoid absolutism
The last pontificate was a triumph of arbitrariness. The proper exercise of authority must be restored, anchoring it once more in divine and natural law and in the good and objective order of the Church.
Doctrine and pastoral care, there is no room for contradictions
The "pastoral shift" of the last pontificate has led to the theory that the development of dogma can be resolved in its opposite. The new Pope has the task of re-proposing the true and vital meaning of the truth.
