Salvation or perdition?
Now Herod the tetrarch heard about all that was going on (Luke 9: 7)
Now Herod the tetrarch heard about all that was going on. And he was perplexed because some were saying that John had been raised from the dead, others that Elijah had appeared, and still others that one of the prophets of long ago had come back to life. But Herod said, “I beheaded John. Who, then, is this I hear such things about?” And he tried to see him. (Luke 9: 7-9)
Sometimes the initial motivations that drive people to seek Jesus is the curiosity and anxiety that comes from constantly living in sin. Depending on how we evolve this initial attraction, our souls can either obtain salvation (like Zacchaeus) or perdition (like Herod). While on our daily journey, let us ask ourselves whether we are we more on the road to salvation or on the one to perdition.
