Sacred Tradition
He will declare to you the things that are to come. (John 16: 13)
Jesus said to his disciples: “I still have many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. When the Spirit of truth comes, he will guide you into all the truth, for he will not speak on his own authority, but whatever he hears he will speak, and he will declare to you the things that are to come. He will glorify me, for he will take what is mine and declare it to you. All that the Father has is mine; therefore I said that he will take what is mine and declare it to you. (John 16: 12-15)
Jesus assures his disciples that, after he returns to the Father, the Holy Spirit will help to remind them of His teachings and give them the correct interpretation. That is why, in addition to the Sacred Scripture, it is also and above all the Sacred Tradition that assures us of the original and correct interpretation of the Word of God. All the heretics in history had given their own interpretation of the Bible, but in so doing they strayed from the Church's teachings to which the Lord himself had entrusted the task of safeguarding the Deposit of Faith. Therefore, in our formation as good Christians, let us never neglect neither the Sacred Scriptures nor Sacred Tradition, as both are inspired by the Holy Spirit in the Catholic Church.
