Remaining faithful to the Truth

Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets. (Matthew 5: 17)

Gospel Pearls 10_06_2020

And Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not think that I have come to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I have not come to abolish them but to fulfil them. For truly, I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not an iota, not a dot, will pass from the Law until all is accomplished. Therefore whoever relaxes one of the least of these commandments and teaches others to do the same will be called least in the kingdom of heaven, but whoever does them and teaches them will be called great in the kingdom of heaven. (Matthew 5, 17-19)

The Word of God is the Truth. The Son, the Second Person of the Trinity, did not come to abolish the Old Testament but bring it to full fruition. After all, the Truth, as such, is like gold and is resistant to time. Thus, what was true in the past cannot become false today. The Truth can only become ever more profound, but it cannot contradict itself. We must always seek the fullness of the Truth, which is Jesus himself. Once we have come to know it, we have the duty to remain faithful to the Truth..
