Quickly accepting Grace

This generation is an evil generation. (Luke 11: 29)

Gospel Pearls 11_10_2021

When the crowds were increasing, Jesus began to say, “This generation is an evil generation. It seeks for a sign, but no sign will be given to it except the sign of Jonah. For as Jonah became a sign to the people of Nineveh, so will the Son of Man be to this generation. The queen of the South will rise up at the judgment with the men of this generation and condemn them, for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, something greater than Solomon is here. The men of Nineveh will rise up at the judgment with this generation and condemn it, for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, something greater than Jonah is here. (Luke 11: 29-32)

God is always knocking at the door of human freedom, not only that of individuals but of nations as well. The generation that Jesus rebukes in the Gospel is the prejudiced one of His time. Their fault was that they did not recognize Him as the Son of God, not even after His resurrection, thus rendering Jesus' desire to save everyone futile. Therefore, we must  be constantly vigilant to quickly accept the Grace God offers us in superabundant measure for our salvation through the saints who, in the past and today, urge us to put God’s Will into practice. So today, let's try to be more attentive than usual in terms of what God wants to reveal to us.
