Not easy, but joyful
"My yoke is easy, and my burden light." (Mt 11,30)
Jesus said to the crowds:
"Come to me, all you who labor and are burdened,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am meek and humble of heart;
and you will find rest for yourselves.
For my yoke is easy, and my burden light." (Mt 11, 28-30)
Pope St. Paul VI affirmed that Christianity is not easy but it is joyful. Every human being is created for this joy, but it is achievable only by imitating Jesus and conforming to His Will, because he who sees and listens to Him, sees and listens to the Father. This means, every yoke, every mockery and persecution suffered as disciples of Jesus becomes insignificant or even a source of bliss. Let us not be discouraged by our difficulties!
