In the arms of Jesus
‘What description can I find for this generation? (Mt 11, 16)
Jesus spoke to the crowds: ‘What description can I find for this generation? It is like children shouting to each other as they sit in the market place:
“We played the pipes for you,
and you wouldn’t dance;
we sang dirges,
and you wouldn’t be mourners.”
‘For John came, neither eating nor drinking, and they say, “He is possessed.” The Son of Man came, eating and drinking, and they say, “Look, a glutton and a drunkard, a friend of tax collectors and sinners.” Yet wisdom has been proved right by her actions.’ (Matthew 11:16-19)
Whoever approaches Jesus with prejudice might not reach Him because they will make use of any excuse not to let their hearts be touched and change their lives. Let us abandon all our prejudices about Jesus and let us be guided by Him who knows us well, loves us and wants to save us. Do you understand that it is the Word of God that must guide your life and that you must not approach the person of Jesus with preconceived ideas?
