If the meeting were today?
I am going now to prepare a place for you (John 14, 3)
Jesus said to his disciples: ‘Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God still, and trust in me. There are many rooms in my Father’s house; if there were not, I should have told you. I am going now to prepare a place for you, and after I have gone and prepared you a place, I shall return to take you with me; so that where I am you may be too. You know the way to the place where I am going.’ Thomas said, ‘Lord, we do not know where you are going, so how can we know the way?’ Jesus said:‘I am the Way, the Truth and the Life.No one can come to the Father except through me.’(John 14, 1-6)
Jesus invites us not to have troubled hearts. The reason for this tranquility is that He has gone to prepare a place for us. A place for each one of us. Just like having a season ticket for the stadium or a theater: each person has a specific seat reserved for them that cannot be occupied by others. If we don't go our place remains empty. This is why death will not be the tragic end of all hopes, but the coming of Christ to take us to live eternally with Him and with the Father. Are you ready for this meeting even if it were to happen today? Are you in God's grace or are you in a state of sin? Do you think it might be better to confess more often?
