How to embrace the Gospel

At that time the disciples came to Jesus and asked, “Who, then, is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?” He called a little child to him, and placed the child among them. And he said: “Truly I tell you, unless you change and become like little children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Therefore, whoever takes the lowly position of this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven. And whoever welcomes one such child in my name welcomes me. See that you do not despise one of these little ones. For I tell you that their angels in heaven always see the face of my Father in heaven. (Matthew 18: 1-5.10)

Jesus sets children as an example of how to welcome the Gospel: with simplicity and without prejudice. That is why Jesus invites us not to despise children, but rather to protect and guide them. So let us commit to teaching our children (in addition to others under our care) that God’s Will is superior to our own.
