Communion to remarried divorcees

For the gate is narrow. (Matthew 7: 14)

Gospel Pearls 22_06_2021

Jesus said to his disciples: “Do not give dogs what is holy, and do not throw your pearls before pigs, lest they trample them underfoot and turn to attack you. “So whatever you wish that others would do to you, do also to them, for this is the Law and the Prophets. Enter by the narrow gate. For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction, and those who enter by it are many. For the gate is narrow and the way is hard that leads to life, and those who find it are few.” (Matthew 7: 6; 12-14)

Jesus asks us to be vigilant and caring in safeguarding of sacred things, above all the sacraments. This attitude is necessary for us both out of love for God and so as not to confuse others as if certain behaviours were no longer considered sinful. For example, giving communion to remarried divorcees would be a grave scandal for those who know their particular situation and would cast doubt on three sacraments. It would seem, in fact, that confession does not require repentance, communion does not require being in the grace of God, and that marriage is dissolvable.
