Better accompanied than alone
For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. (Matthew 11: 30)
Jesus said to his disciples: Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11: 28-30)
The yoke is that part of the wagon that is used to slow down pack animals and coax them along in their labor. When man decides not to hear the words Jesus’s salvation, he is like a pack animal condemned to drag the wagon of life all alone. On the contrary, when we decide to listen to Jesus' teaching, at first it seems that our freedom is limited, but then we discover that the greater weight of His cross will be carried by Jesus. It is up to us to decide whether to place ourselves under the sweet yoke of Jesus or under the hard yoke of life without Him.
