Abandon your own thoughts and concerns

At that time Jesus declared, “I thank you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that you have hidden these things from the wise and understanding and revealed them to little children; yes, Father, for such was your gracious will. All things have been handed over to me by my Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father, and no one knows the Father except the Son and anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal him. (Matthew 11: 25-27)

Poverty in spirit (i.e. utility) is common to all the beatitudes. On the contrary, prideful persons tend to replace God with that meddlesome thing called "I". This is why God reveals himself to children. Just think about all the Marian apparitions: in virtually every case they involve humble people who have no education or personal pretensions. They add nothing of their own to the message and the revelations they receive. Their main concern is not to understand completely but to faithfully report, as messengers, what has been transmitted to them. Let us learn from them, because this is the task of Christians: to proclaim the Gospel and give witness to it by our own example. Let us completely brush aside our own thoughts and personal concerns.
