The destiny of those who love sin

The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous  and throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. Matthew 13: 50)

And Jesus said to the crowd: “Once again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net that was let down into the lake and caught all kinds of fish. When it was full, the fishermen pulled it up on the shore. Then they sat down and collected the good fish in baskets, but threw the bad away. This is how it will be at the end of the age. The angels will come and separate the wicked from the righteous and throw them into the blazing furnace, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth. “Have you understood all these things?” Jesus asked. “Yes,” they replied. He said to them, “Therefore every teacher of the law who has become a disciple in the kingdom of heaven is like the owner of a house who brings out of his storeroom new treasures as well as old.”  When Jesus had finished these parables, he moved on from there. Matthew 13: 47-53)

It is true that all men sin by breaking God’s commandments, but some do so out of weakness or ignorance. And as soon as they can, they seek forgiveness of their sins through the sacrament of confession. Then there are others who sin because they love to sin. For their perseverance in error, these are the ones whose souls are most in danger of losing eternal salvation. They risk never repenting and ending up where, according to what Jesus himself said, there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth for all eternity. Lord, help us to humbly recognise our sins, so that we can sincerely repent and try not to fall into temptation anymore.
