It is like a grain of mustard seed. (Luke 13: 19)

Gospel Pearls 26_10_2021

Jesus said therefore, “What is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I compare it? It is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his garden, and it grew and became a tree, and the birds of the air made nests in its branches.” And again he said, “To what shall I compare the kingdom of God? It is like leaven that a woman took and hid in three measures of flour, until it was all leavened.” (Luke 13: 18-21)

Jesus advises us not to neglect the little things of daily life: a short prayer, a concrete act of assistance, a daily word of comfort said for the glory of God. All this could one day add up to something great, already in our lives on earth. Surely everything we do for the glory of God will become very important when our faith is judged in the hereafter. It will also prepare us to face the great trials of life. So why do we still complain when we have to do those small, repetitive, daily actions which our roles as mother, husband, child, worker, student requires of us? If done out of love for God, they will become the gateway to the joy we experience after death.
