Don’t delay

But the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head (Matthew 8, 20)

When Jesus saw the great crowds all about him he gave orders to leave for the other side. One of the scribes then came up and said to him, "Master, I will follow you wherever you go." Jesus replied, "Foxes have holes and the birds of the air have nests, but the Son of Man has nowhere to lay his head." Another man, one of his disciples, said to him, "Sir, let me go and bury my father first." But Jesus replied, "Follow me, and leave the dead to bury their dead." (Matthew 8,18-22)

There is a bitter truth for those who follow the Lord: the choice necessarily involves hardships and sacrifices. To follow Jesus you must be ready and decisive, otherwise you risk losing sight of the goal. When Jesus says do not go and bury one’s father, He is not  disrespecting the commandment to love one’s father and mother, but He wants to make it clear that for those who follow Him a new path begins. Do you want to follow the Lord where He wants to take you today?
